When our Alexis first got engaged she went straight out and bought the mandatory wedding magazines. As soon as she sat down and started reading the list of rules -- rules actually "created" by the wedding industry, to enable them to make more money -- the veil of stress descended upon her. But our Lexi is one smart cookie and decided to do a little research, which is how she stumbled across a wedding site called
Offbeat Bride: Creative Alternatives For Independent Brides. It was a match made in heaven. It gave her permission to have the wedding that she and Nate really
wanted, instead of the one that everyone else
expected.
And what a wedding it was! Unfortunately, we won't be able to see the
professional photos for several weeks. However, thanks to all the great
tips she got from Offbeat Bride, she knew to set up a wedding website,
where all her friends have been downloading the candid shots they took
with their own cameras. I had great plans to share some of the best ones
with you this morning but, alas, my blog seems to equate taking photos
from her wedding site to stealing them from Facebook and such, and
blocks me from posting them. Waaahh! This is what I get for making up my
mind to be present and in the moment for this entire event, instead of
hiding behind a camera. Didn't take one single picture of my own at the
wedding or rehearsal dinner. Just a few before and after. C'est la vie!

| Most of the wedding party stayed in the main lodge, but the bride and groom got a darling little stone casita from the 50s. |

There would be fire pits, S'mores, a pinata for the kids, and even Trick-or-Treating in the neighborhood for those with little ones.
Best of all, there would be lots of time for this -- just hanging with their tribe!
So if you know anyone who is soon to be married, I suggest you introduce them to Offbeat Bride. It just might "Altar Their Thinking!"
