SHE'S A BIG BONED GAL FROM SOUTHERN ALBERTA...

You just couldn't call her small. The same goes for her voice. Oh, what a magical, musical week it has been! It started with seeing Cory Morrow and Pat Green at the amazing Whitewater Amphitheater over in New Braunfels, overlooking the river, with Outdoor Woman and Man...

and just got even better when we attended this long-awaited concert over in Austin last night.

It's been nigh on thirty years since I fell in love with the music of k.d. lang, and she still knows how to rock the house with her operatic stylings on songs like Helpless and Constant Craving...

only in this case, she rocked an entire auditorium!

PRE-ADVENTURE HOMEWORK

Only two more days until my New Braunfels art adventure with Elizabeth St. Hilaire begins. Guess it's time to get crackin' on those pre-class assignments she gave us, huh? Nothing like waiting until the last minute!

For our first assignment, everyone in the class must paint a simple apple on a 12x12 canvas, which we will later cover with a collage of our hand-painted papers. Then, time allowing, we can work on a project of our own choosing. I'm thinking it might be fun to do a collaged version of this...

the toucan mother-in-law Theda made for us when she got a wild hair to switch from painting to wood-carving sometime in her late 60s or early 70s.

Wish me luck!

WHAT DOES THE FOX SAY? OOOOMMMM...

Although I cannot claim to have loved every piece of yard art that Hubby has gifted me with over the years, I have fallen madly in love with the most recent surprise to land on my doorstep.

Could it have something to do with a recent early morning visitor who sat watching me do laps around the driveway, just as calm as you please?

Or maybe it's because, before we bought this property and redubbed it "Seasonality", the original owners had called it "Fox Hill", and even embedded this little plaque in the concrete.

Or, could it be my perpetual enchantment with this song?

All I know is, he puts a big ol' grin on my face every time I pass him!

Hmmm, perhaps I need to order the children's book which spawned from that song for Little Goober's reading basket. Yes. Yes I do.
