Not a bad way to spend a Saturday!
Today it is treating Dad to breakfast at his favorite cafe, a chair full of presies to open, whipping up a batch of Cherry Chocolate Amaretto ice cream and stashing it in the freezer, a bit of lazing around, taking Dad to a newly-released Sci-Fi flick, stopping off at Salt Lick on the way home to grab our barbecue order, then having our Father's Day feast of that and the homemade ice cream. Not a bad way to spend a Sunday!

Dear Becky, Just came across your wonderful blog! I have been searching for a blog about the Hill Country, Austin area, as we will be moving there this September when our home is complete. We have lived in Houston many years, so this will be a big change. Being of the Boomer generation with an empty nest, we will have to look harder to find a niche in a new community. We are very excited with the prospect. Thanks for providing another outlet of info on the area. Happy Father's Day to you and yours. Marg
Hi Becky, I am moving from Houston to the Austin area in September when our home is complete. Your blog caught my eye, and look forward to reading more. We are Boomers and with an empty nest we will have to work harder to find a niche in a new community. Thanks for the info your blog provides. I take it you live in Wimberley? Our home will be in the Barton Creek area. Do you know any other bloggers in the Austin area? Thanks!
Marguerite, I'm so glad you found me! We spent many years in Houston (two different stints, three different neighborhoods) and I know how difficult it can be to transition -- especially if you are going from the burbs to the country as we did. I'm a fan of one blog called Digging that's written by an Austinite, but it's primarily a garden blog. If you will be landscaping from scratch, you can get some great ideas from Pam's blog -- and you'll need it, 'cause gardening here is NOTHING like gardening in Houston!
Oh yeah! How could I forget this amazing Austin blogger -- my daughter! http://www.lanedesignstudio.com/design-blog/
