I'd stick the bean in a jar of pickles and let it start marinating.
Then I'd make an agua fresca from the melon: http://www.wholefoodsmarket.com/recipes/293
After I'd cooled down with the agua, I'd go make a tall, icy and strong Bloody Mary and add the bean for garnish! Rocking chair, porch, hand fan, aaahhhhhhhh......
I guess I way underestimated how many bean plants I would need - or else my plants are underproducing. I bring in 3 or 4 beans per day and store them in the fridge until I finally have enough for a meal! I have to keep reminding myself that this is just my first year with a kitchen garden, and Rome wasn't built in a day...
ME - Oh, by the way. When my sister ordered the cantina flags for me to decorate with for our little reunion, she also ordered some really cute paper fans in festive colors. Now I've got plenty to pass around whenever we adjourn to the porch!
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable. ~ Helen Keller
