The nurseries were a-hoppin' this weekend. We bought a whole truck-load of pots and plants at Great Outdoors (in Austin) yesterday. Then we turned around and went back to King Feed for more!
Looks like you've got your hole-digging work cut out for you! Are you planting any natives? They're so rewarding, because they have relationships with the butterflies and birds, so you get a whole community along with just a few plants....
Susan - We're on 4 acres, and we're leaving almost the entire property native. We've got a great assortment of native grasses, Texas Mountain Laurel, lots of yucca and agarita, a Texas persimmon, etc. We finally fenced in one small area though, so we could grow a few edibles - we call it our Mexican Hacienda Courtyard Kitchen Cantina Garden (Cantina Garden for short). There will be a few non-natives in the pots, the herbs and veggies, and a bunch of (mostly native) perennials.
Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable. ~ Helen Keller

Oh how fun! I am looking forward to the weather turning warm enough so I can dig some holes too!
