OH WHAT A BEAUTIFUL MORNING

This happened not long ago, and I just had to share it, for it is one of my favorite things about living where I do.

Early Morning Fog Hovering Above The Creeks

Good thing I'm an early riser, huh?

A FATHER'S DAY FOR THE BOOKS

I assumed we would get together with at least part of the kiddos at some point this past weekend, but had no specific plans until yesterday morning, when Lex sent a text saying they were thinking about trying out the huge castle arcade on  I-35, midway between Austin and Wimberley, if we cared to join them. So, of course, we did!

Little Calvin's first reaction was to cover his ears and yell "Too loud!" That's kind of how I felt too. But it didn't take long for him to get in the groove.

The great thing about this age is that they couldn't care less whether the games were actually on or off. I told Lex to enjoy it while it lasts!

Best and most time-consuming part of all? Picking out prizes, of course!

Afterwards, we went across the highway to the little town of Buda (pronounced Byou-duh) to check out a fun looking spot for lunch that we had passed many times, admiring the shady outdoor area beneath a huge old oak tree, but never actually tried. Welcome to Willie's Place!

The indoor bar and cafe area was a bit on the seedy side, so we weren't sure what to expect food-wise. Turns out, they serve some mighty fine BBQ, and even had a decent kids menu, which really surprised us.

Afterwards, the kids headed home, since it was almost Goober's nap time, but Hubs and I did a bit more exploring. I guess it's been a while since we did that in Buda, 'cause boy, were we ever surprised to find this whole new shopping/dining area known as Buda Mill & Grain Co. Best of all? They even have a great little art gallery, where they had an amazing encaustic artist demonstrating her craft and some gorgeous eco-dyed scarves I recognized as being from three of our Wimberley gals. To top it all off, they have a fairly large Sunday farmer's market there, which we immediately took advantage of!

I ask you. Does it get any better?
