Just got back from the dentist where I saw a posting about using salt-water to gargle twice a day and saline spray once a day during flu season (dentist says he does it year-round) to help kill off viruses before they're able to cause problems. He said he keeps a bottle of saline spray in the shower and uses it every morning. Posting also recommends drinking hot beverages to rinse away the nasty little bugs. Would be worth a try!
Just got back from the dentist where I saw a posting about gargling with salt-water twice a day and using a Neti pot(or saline nasal spray ) once a day to kill viruses before they set in and make us sick. Dentist says he keeps a bottle of saline spray in the shower and uses it every day. Posting also recommends drinking hot beverages. Sounds simple enough to give it a try.
The flu shots help, but they don't give 100% coverage, and there are so many other viruses (including colds) out there. The posting indicated that salt-water gargle and nasal irrigation would help prevent most viruses. Nothing is a complete "magic bullet", but I'll see if I can find more information.
I do, however, drink hot tea all day during winter, and use saline spray to keep my nasal passages open, so perhaps that is why John is sick, and I am not. At least, not yet.
Here's a link that has the info the dentist posted. http://webswagger.com/blog/?tag=h1n1-prevention You might be right about why John got sick and you didn't!
I created my blog Seasonality, in September of '07, to chronicle our quest for the good life once we'd found our heart's home here in the Texas Hill Country. A few years later I launched Miss Becky Goes Abroad, so that I might go back and share stories of our adventures in Southeast Asia and Bahrain, as young newlyweds in the 70s. So glad you stopped by!
Art is simply a result of expression during right feeling...any material will do. After all, the object is not to make art, but to be in the wonderful state which makes art inevitable. ~ Robert Henri

I thought that was what those flu shots we got were for!
