COLOR-MAD MONDAYS

I have a thing for color. Have I mentioned that before? Only a thousand times, you say? Well, lest you forget, I think I just might make an official habit of sharing with you some of the things that send me over the moon.

This weekend, it was a piece of fabric. It called to me from across a crowded room. The combination of this siren's call, a certain bohemian-hippie-gypsy-cowgirl je ne sais quois, and my husband's giddy insistence, forced me to do something I haven't done in...well...I can't even remember, it's been so long.

I purchased a dress. Not a pair of jeans. Not a top. Not even a skirt. An actual dress. Hubby is over the moon, too.

Now comes the fun part - accessorizing! Which pair of earrings do you prefer?

Oooohhh, how pretty; time to start planning 'date night' in Houston or Austin!

I love those silver overlay on blue/teal/turquoise enamel (?) in the bottom center but don't know if the silver goes with the gold beads on the dress. Lovely, lovely colors on the dress.

(And.... surprise John with some hot-cha-cha lingerie!)

Not silver - sort of brassy, as are the studs on the dress. That is my very favorite pair of earrings. Had 'em for years and wear them to death! Most of the other jewelry was my moms, and the fabulously funky beaded coyote/cactus hairclip came from Wimberley Market Days a year or two ago.

Oh yeah, and as the main guy on A-Team always says, "I just love it when a plan comes together." The nice thing about getting older is, by now, you've figured out what colors and styles work best for you. Everything in my closet goes with everything else, so I get more outfits out of fewer pieces. And, I never have to go out and buy new shoes or accessories to go with a particular outfit. I already have oodles of choices! That's probably why I don't buy dresses though. It will be all but impossible to recombine this booger with anything else, to make it look like a completely different outfit. Too memorable!

Oh my!!!! That dress! Those boots! The jewelry! Um, could I borrow it all? FYI, I wear jeans with dresses over them...very gypsy and I always get compliments on it.

That dress is still hanging on my bedroom door. I just can't bring myself to stash it away in the closet, I love looking at it so much!

I searched on 'bohemian' on your blog after I'd just discovered a new site this morning. I was so enthused after seeing the photos of real women (not 'twiggy' models) dressing well with panache, that I was reminded of this post about your gorgeous dress.

Have you worn it yet? Did you get a pic when you did?

We're not in our 70's and 80's yet but the site reminded me that I spend far too much time in dark, casual clothing. I've always loved hats (real ones----not baseball caps and golf visors.)

I feel renewed about aging and dressing well.

It's time for a long overdue visit to Thriftown: http://www.thrifttown.com/

I'm ready for some blues and corals and turquoises and salmons and pinks!

Here's the Advanced Style site; scroll thru and look at the summer outfits:

OMG, I love the lady in the "Older and Bolder" video! She reminds me so much of my MIL Theda. She was an artist too, loved dressing with pizazz, wore lots of hats and rings on every finger. She wanted an ankle bracelet too, but my FIL vetoed it - he thought only streetwalkers wore them!

Yes, I've worn it several times already. I feel so snazzy in it - especially when I wear it with the tan and turquoise boots John gave me last Christmas.
