YIPPIE KI YO KI YAY!

He's off the ventilator! They were just getting ready to extubate him (yank the tube out of his throat) when I walked in for my 11:00 visit, so I had to run and hide in the corner. His voice is very Barry White now, but at least he's talking. He was totally astounded when he discovered this was his 3rd day in the hospital. Now I need all of you to send lots of positive energy this way, in hopes that his recovery will finally start picking up some speed!

Him not remembering the last two days is both good and bad. He won't remember how sucky the last two days were, so no trauma. However, if he doesn't remember, then that is less incentive for him to keep his butt from going back there.

Oh Lex, I think there is still plenty of suckiness left, for him not to want a repeat. I took the little Yoda figure you knitted to the hospital today, to set on his tray. Soon as he saw it, he started laughing, and then he started crying, because it hurt so bad to laugh. I finally had to hide it, so he could quit crying.

Joanna - I can feel it! I can feel it!

YAY! I am so glad that he came off the ventilator and is doing better and doesn't remember the last couple of days. I remember trying not to make my mom laugh the first couple of days after her tube came out, because she would start coughing like crazy, which would cause her pain. It's hard not to be floating on cloud 9 once their better, though! I'm sending all our positive and healing vibes your way...

Thanks for the updates. We've been mentally holding your hand for these past weeks. Now take a deep breath, hold it and then very slowly exhale. Now do it again. OK !
That will be the only break you'll have until he sneaks off to the Dairy Queen for a Peanut Buster Parfett.Maybe in a couple of weeks.
Prayerful thanks and big smiles from here. Hang in there. JudieJ

Thank you so much for all the good thoughts. They are much appreciated. John is doing well - he got out of ICU yesterday (Sun.) and took his first walk down the hall this morning. However, I've got stories to tell that will curl your hair! Coming up soon - The ICU Twilight Zone!
